Welcome Back

Welcome back to the 2010 school year. As you all know well, passing the CAHSEE is a requirement for graduation. Will you pass?  You all can.  The question is...How badly do you want it?  I can teach you and help you and give you essays to write and homework to practice on, but you have to take all of that seriously. You have to read outside of this classroom. You have to do the homework, write the essays, and take the practice tests. You have to want it. It's not a joke. It's real and it's time.

Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them. - Ann Landers

2. Were you surprised by the ending of the novel? Explain.

3. Were you able to make any predictions about what was going to happen? Why are why not?

4. Give an example of cause and effect in the part of the novel you read today.

Special Monday Edition

Thank you for your participation Friday with Ms. Shenkman's lesson about crafting thesis statements. I think we all learned something from that and you did a wonderful job helping her out with that.  As you know, we ran out of time for your vocab quiz though, so you can take it today.

Vocab quiz for 1/25/10

I don't think I ever asked this class to fill out the student data form. If you are in my 3rd or 4th period class you probably did this. If you are only in my 5th period class please click the link below and complete the form.

Special Tuesday Edition

Did you miss me? (Don't answer that.)

Ok while I was out being very sick you did some reading with the sub, but you missed taking your vocab quiz. So here it is.

I want to take my vocab quiz please!

After you take your quiz spend some time reading on-line about a person you admire from history. This is someone you may write about on the CAHSEE so try to learn some important facts and events from his or her life.
